Windows Phone 8 to receive software update to enable FM radio

While not official, The Verge has learned that Microsoft is planning on enabling the FM radio that’s already available in many Windows Phone 8 smartphones that isn’t actually on. Windows Phone 7 had FM radio support right from day one, and Microsoft wants to bring this feature back.

Nokia is also said to be working on an update of their own, for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, allowing users to awaken their smartphones with a double-tap on their display. This reduces the need to constantly press the device’s power/sleep button to wake it up. Nokia also plans on adding a flip-to-silence option as well as color profile settings to adjust the phone’s screen. This update should be available over the next couple of months.
