Announced today came the Radeon HD 8970M, which is now the world’s fastest mobile GPU. Its specifications include 1280 stream processors, an 850MHz core clock (+50MHz for boost), a 1200MHz memory clock, and DirectX 11.1 support. Via MSI, it’s already slapped into their upcoming GX70 gaming laptop, with an unknown release date and price (typical). AMD also touts that the 8970M provides a noticeable improvement over the green team’s GTX 680M in a number of different gaming scenarios.
