Real Racing 3 to be released in February, new developer video available

Originally slated for release towards late-2012 was Real Racing 3, Firemint’s third installment in the Real Racing series. Real Racing is undoubtedly the best racing game (as far as mobile games go, at least). The third game is expected to bring not only real cars, but real tracks, whereas the previous game only had licensed cars. It’s unfortunate that the game has been delayed, but it’s best for it to be as completed as possible. Shown off on video via a new developer diary are some of these real tracks, as you’ll see below.

The latest developer diary for Real Racing 3 shows us a bigger glimpse as to what we can expect from the title, mainly real, licensed tracks. The videos shows off footage from Indianapolis Motor Speedway (NASCAR, IndyCar, Grand-Am, ALMS, MotoGP), Bathurst/Mount Panorama (V8 Supercars), as well as their own, custom track that takes to the streets of Sydney, Australia. From previous videos and gameplay demos, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will be one of the main tracks. In terms of cars, that’s still up in the air, but with the backing of EA, one can assume that the vehicle list will be extensive.

While there’s still no official release date of the game, it’s going to be released in “late February” for iOS and eventually Android devices. On the computer side of things, if Real Racing 2 for Mac OS X is of any indication, we’ll see RR3 for that operating system as well.
