PS4 Rumors: Speculation & Analysis

The official Sony event unveiled the highly anticipated PlayStation 4. The time for rumors is gone now. Some un-named sources have claimed that there are 2 models of PlayStation. Prices of these models are hidden but by the end of the year the revelation is expected. According to rumors, expected prices would vary between $529 and $429. With its numerous new features and interesting elements PS4 is expected to be a hit.

There were a lot of speculations all of which have been put to rest after the conference.

The latest update in the month of January made PlayStation Network games possible to purchase using internet. There are certainly many new features to PS4 but these features are not for free of course. Like other big corporations, there is going to be a pre-defined fee that will have be paid to get the premium subscription of PS4.

Sony is really trying to focus on the social element of gaming with the PS4. They have actually made a deal with Facebook and Ustream to allow enhanced social capabilities. You can actually share live streams of whatever game you are playing by pressing a share button on the Dual-shock 4.

Other exciting features of PS4 that made were made public at the conference include its ability to help your friends play games from your dashboard. The AMD hardware was confirmed few days back by Sony in a press release, didn’t exactly say so, but referred to an “accelerated processing unit,” that is AMD’s terminology for a chip which combines graphics processing and microprocessor on a single piece of silicon. Instead of two chips a single one is more cost-effective and economical for a game console. One of the representation from Sony has explained that “it is an AMD chip with Radeon graphics,” Though the specific architecture was not explained in much detail.

The PS4 GPU is rumored to have fifty percent more computing units than the Xbox 720. As confirmed in the reveal, these can be utilized for more than just graphics. The leaks have also confirmed the addition of “GDDR5 8GB” in the Memory Specs of PS4, which is incredible. The GDDR is the abbreviation of “Graphics Double Data Rate”. It’s a type of high performance graphics card memory. The new PS4 has thirty-two times the amount of graphics capacity (GDDR) as compared to the PS3, which weighs in with 256 MB GDDR3. The dual shock 4 controller was also revealed in the Sony conference. The Shape of the controller will pretty much be the same but some really cool new features have been added to the dual shock 4. A share button which when pressed will share whatever you are doing on the PS4 social network. A light bar has been added the controller to give each player a unique style. On top of that the dual shock comes with sensor which allows for more in-depth motion tracking with the kinect-like camera that comes with the PS4.
