Motorola today announced some notable updates to last year’s Moto G and Moto X. The Moto G gets stereo front-facing speakers, a 5-inch 720p screen (up from the previous 4.5-inch 720p screen), an 8MP rear-facing camera (up from 5MP), a microSD card slot and faster 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. For the Moto X, it also got a larger screen, now a 5.2-inch full HD display (up from the previous 4.7-inch 720p screen), 4K video recording via the 13MP rear-facing camera (up from last year’s 10MP shooter), a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core CPU @ 2.5GHz (paired with 2GB of RAM) and better physical hardware thanks to materials like wood, genuine leather and metal. The second-generation Moto G is available now at the same low price of $179 price (2G/3G only for now), while the updated Moto X will be available with all of the Moto Maker customization options soon for $499.99. Global Availability and Pricing
The new Moto X will be coming to countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia starting later this month. Moto X will be available for as low as $99.99 with a new two-year customer agreement on select carriers in the US. It will be available off-contract and unlocked in the US from $499.99 on motorola.com.
The new Moto G is available starting today unlocked and off-contract for $179.99 USD on motorola.com, as well as retailers in the US. Moto G also goes on sale today in India, France, UK, Brazil, Spain, and on motorola.de in Germany. By end of year, the new Moto G will be available in more than a dozen countries and through several carrier partners around the world.
